A New Nurse's In Town

Updated: Apr 23, 2018

For the past few weeks my Mom's been helping take care of me. She's a nurse (thee best, BTW) so I've had it good.

Although I'm her daughter, she sometimes treats me like a real patient 💓. She's so kind, so compassionate -- she even has all the nifty tools they use in the hospitals (I know, I'm blessed).

Today she had to step away for a while and I was assigned to a new nurse...my brother 😅.

If you know my brother, you're probably sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering if I survived the day 😝.

My brother woke up with one agenda and one agenda only: get the heated mess (he likes to call me this) Alicia out of the house to walk and enjoy the sunshine 😅.

Yesterday was my first day walking to mail box so I was certain I wasn't going to make it outdoors, especially not looking like a "heated mess" 😒.

But this wanna-be nurse brother of mine was playing no games. He woke me up clapping his hands like some basketball coach hyping his team up for a big game 😦.

BRUH...Huh? What?😨😖😳

"Did mom not leave him instructions?" I thought to myself. I just had a major surgery 😒. Can't you make me breakfast in bed or something 🙄.

I hate to admit it, but my brother was right. I needed some tough love. I needed to get up and start moving again, especially if I want to recover and bounce back.

So I got up and we drove to the park and walked around not once, but three times. It felt good.😁

He was walking a little on the fast side so it was hard to keep up, but it pushed me to my limits.

For the past few weeks, I've been treating my body like a delicate flower. Gently walking around the house as if I will break by the slightest touch. #DoingTooMuch

Nurse brother got me right in formation today. Thanks for everything. I would still be acting like a princess if it wasn't for you.

Love you 🖤 ... Wakanda Forever 😂

If you are going through a similar recovery process, don't be afraid to push yourself and take the first step -- your body is stronger than you think.

In the wise words of my uncle, "you take one step, let God take two" ... and before you know it, you walked around a park three times like I did today 😁.
